Thank you for purchasing LineLocker! This guide will help you install and set up the VS Code extension to start protecting your code immediately.

📋 What You'll Need

Version 1.74.0 or higher
🔑 Product Key
Provided after purchase
🌐 Internet
For initial setup and sync
🔧 Step 1: Install VS Code Extension
Option A: Install from VS Code Marketplace (Recommended)
- Open VS Code
- Open Extensions panel (Ctrl+Shift+X or Cmd+Shift+X)
- Search for "LineLocker"
- Click "Install" on the LineLocker extension
- Wait for installation to complete
Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+X (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+X (Mac)
Option B: Install from VSIX File (if provided)
- Download the VSIX file from your purchase confirmation email
- Open VS Code
- Open Extensions panel (Ctrl+Shift+X or Cmd+Shift+X)
- Click the "..." menu in the top-right of Extensions panel
- Select "Install from VSIX..."
- Choose the downloaded VSIX file
- Wait for installation to complete
🔐 Step 2: Sign In with Your Product Key
- Open the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P or Cmd+Shift+P)
- Type "LineLocker: Sign In" and press Enter
- Enter your product key when prompted
Format: ll_sk_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
- Press Enter to authenticate
Important: Your product key was provided in your purchase confirmation email. If you can't find it, check your spam folder or contact support.
Product Key Validation
Your product key:
- Starts with
ll_sk_
- Is exactly 38 characters long
- Contains letters and numbers
- Is unique to your purchase
🚀 Step 3: Verify Installation
Check Status Bar
- Look at the status bar at the bottom of VS Code
- You should see "LineLocker: X/Y" (showing your usage)
- If you see "LineLocker: Sign In", click it to sign in again
Test the Extension
- Open any code file
- Select a few lines of code
- Right-click and choose "Lock with LineLocker"
- Enter a password and reason when prompted
- You should see the code highlighted with a 🔒 icon
Success! If you can see the 🔒 icon on your code, LineLocker is working correctly!
🎯 Step 4: Quick Start Usage
Locking Code
- Select code you want to protect
- Right-click → "Lock with LineLocker"
- Enter password (strong password recommended)
- Enter reason (e.g., "Critical authentication logic")
- Code is now protected and highlighted
Unlocking Code
- Right-click on locked code
- Choose "Unlock Block"
- Enter the password you used when locking
- Code is now unlocked and editable
Viewing Usage
- Click the LineLocker status in the status bar
- View your current usage and limits
- See your plan details and upgrade options
