For initial setup and sync

🔧 Step 1: Install VS Code Extension

Option A: Install from VS Code Marketplace (Recommended)

  1. Open VS Code
  2. Open Extensions panel (Ctrl+Shift+X or Cmd+Shift+X)
  3. Search for "LineLocker"
  4. Click "Install" on the LineLocker extension
  5. Wait for installation to complete
Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+X (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+X (Mac)

Option B: Install from VSIX File (if provided)

  1. Download the VSIX file from your purchase confirmation email
  2. Open VS Code
  3. Open Extensions panel (Ctrl+Shift+X or Cmd+Shift+X)
  4. Click the "..." menu in the top-right of Extensions panel
  5. Select "Install from VSIX..."
  6. Choose the downloaded VSIX file
  7. Wait for installation to complete

🔐 Step 2: Sign In with Your Product Key

  1. Open the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P or Cmd+Shift+P)
  2. Type "LineLocker: Sign In" and press Enter
  3. Enter your product key when prompted
    Format: ll_sk_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  4. Press Enter to authenticate
Important: Your product key was provided in your purchase confirmation email. If you can't find it, check your spam folder or contact support.

🚀 Step 3: Verify Installation

Check Status Bar

  1. Look at the status bar at the bottom of VS Code
  2. You should see "LineLocker: X/Y" (showing your usage)
  3. If you see "LineLocker: Sign In", click it to sign in again

Test the Extension

  1. Open any code file
  2. Select a few lines of code
  3. Right-click and choose "Lock with LineLocker"
  4. Enter a password and reason when prompted
  5. You should see the code highlighted with a 🔒 icon
Success! If you can see the 🔒 icon on your code, LineLocker is working correctly!

🎯 Step 4: Quick Start Usage

Locking Code

  1. Select code you want to protect
  2. Right-click → "Lock with LineLocker"
  3. Enter password (strong password recommended)
  4. Enter reason (e.g., "Critical authentication logic")
  5. Code is now protected and highlighted

Unlocking Code

  1. Right-click on locked code
  2. Choose "Unlock Block"
  3. Enter the password you used when locking
  4. Code is now unlocked and editable

Viewing Usage

  1. Click the LineLocker status in the status bar
  2. View your current usage and limits
  3. See your plan details and upgrade options
